Most of the downtown area on-street parking is 2-hour parking Monday through Friday 8am-4pm that is strictly enforced.

Free Daily Parking
Additional free daily parking is available outside of the 2-hour parking zone and at three city-owned parking lots
(see map at right):

Leased Parking
The City also offers leased parking.  Contact the Business Office at (252)639-2750 to apply.

Construction & Emergency Repair Permits
Construction Parking Permits are available for vehicles that need to be accommodated close to a working construction site.  Click here to complete the form, then email or deliver it to the New Bern Police Department, 601 George Street (Google map), Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. These parking permits must be displayed at all times with orange cones placed at the front and rear of the vehicle. This temporary permit ONLY allows for the exception of the 2-hour parking permit. 

Click here to apply for an Emergency Repair Permit.   This temporary permit is valid for ONE DAY and is designed for vehicles that need to park close to a downtown business or organization in order to complete a repair or installation. These parking permits must be displayed at all times with orange cones placed at the front and rear of the vehicle.  This temporary permit ONLY allows for the exception of the 2-hour parking permit.  

Pay A Parking Ticket
Click here to access our secure, online portal for paying parking tickets.    Or, stop by the New Bern Police Department,  601 George Street (Google map) between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday to pay your parking ticket.

Parking Penalties
Your first parking violation will result in a warning ticket.  After that, parking tickets cost $25.  If left unpaid after 30 days, the ticket increases to $50.  Beyond 30 days, unpaid tickets may be sent to a collections agency and your vehicle may be towed.

AirportTransportation
Uber and Lyft both operate in downtown New Bern, along with various taxicab services.  New Bern's Coastal Carolina Regional Airport is just two miles from downtown and offers connecting flights to Charlotte & Atlanta through Delta & U.S. Airways Express.  Car rental is available at the airport or through local providers and several hotels offer shuttle service.  Private transportation is also available through CARTS.
